Columbia Winery – Woodinville Wine Country’s Featured Winery of the Week

Columbia Winery is Washington’s first premium winery, producing distinctive Washington wines from European vinifera grapes since 1962. Winemaker Emeritus David Lake, deemed "Dean of Washington Winemakers" by both Wine Spectator and Decanter Magazine, believed in the synergy between art and science, and continued the founders’ tradition of innovation by introducing new varietals to the state, such as Syrah, Cabernet Franc, and Pinot Gris.

Today, Director of Winemaking Kerry Norton honors the Columbia Winery tradition by crafting highly-acclaimed wines from Washington state. Wines from Columbia Winery exhibit the rich fruit flavors indicative of Washington from the refreshing Cellarmaster Riesling to the rounded berry-filled Merlot to the smoky Syrah, you will find that each wine has a superb balance of fruit and acidity to complement any meal or occasion.

Columbia Winery sources the grapes for its wines from numerous vineyards in Eastern Washington and produces Vineyard Designated wines from Red Willow, Otis and Wyckoff Vineyards.

Located in the scenic Woodinville wine country, Columbia Winery is the ideal location for your special event. The winery is a landmark Victorian mansion surrounded by a picture perfect English garden. Our in-house catering presents exceptional menus that paired with Columbia Winery’s award winning wines will complement your dining experience. Convergence Zone Cellars – Woodinville Wine Country’s Winery of the Week

Convergence Zone Cellars (also known as CZ Cellars) is a family-run micro-winery located in Woodinville’s Warehouse District. Named after our unique Puget Sound weather phenomenon, CZ Cellars has produced several award-winning weather-themed wines since opening in 2010: Storm Front (our signature Merlot-Cabernet blend), Dewpoint (the driest Riesling in Washington), and Sunbreak (an off-dry Chenin Blanc).

Winemaker Scott Greenberg started making wine at home from wine kits, then from grapes. After 5 years, he decided to rent some warehouse space and produce wine commercially. Scott is an alumni of the NW Wine Academy winemaking program and is Burien’s Community Development Director ("the day job that pays for the winery").

The entire Greenberg family (Monica, Ryan, Danielle and Troy) is active in winery operations–serving customers in our tasting room, cleaning hoses, running pumps, marketing and website design. Chester the Winery Dog also helps with customer relations. We are currently sold out of all wine except Dewpoint and will re-open our tasting room in November. Check our website at www.czcellars.com for information on upcoming events and our fall release.

Brian Carter Cellars – Woodinville Wine Country’s Featured Winery of the Week

Did you know that Brian Carter actually made his first wine at the age of 15?

It’s True! After receiving his first microscope as a gift, the future microbiologist started viewing every minute critter he could find.

After Brian read about how yeasts were used in the fermentation process he decided to make a batch of wine from the omnipresent blackberries.

After his initial success he went on to make wine from rosehips, raspberries and even, god forbid, beets. Great color and it had that certain earthy flavor of a fine Burgundy!

The rest is history and forty plus years later, he’s still making great wines. He also promises his blends don’t contain any root vegetables. Well, not yet anyway.
